Who would've thought Young Thug would ever make a Napoleon Dynamite reference? Well, he sure did on this new collaboration with producer Carnage on the track "Liger."

Just to let you know, I'm not a big fan of EDM and seeing his name with Youg Thug didn't give me a great expectation. It's understandable because we are at a day and age where hip-hop acts are now a big part of EDM festivals. I never thought both of these worlds would ever collide, but unfortunately, it did. Carnage was listed as one of top 100 DJs in DJ Mag for the last three years and has been working with many other hip-hop acts including Lil Yachty, ILoveMakonnen, ASAP Ferg, Lil Uzi Vert, etc. Carnage has a very consistent career, and he keeps his audience excited by releasing one "banger" after another.

The interesting thing about Carnage is that he doesn't always produce trance, take a pill and thizz type beat, but he also gets into creating a "trap" beat. He showcases this style in the song "WDYW" with ASAP Ferg, Lil Uzi Vert & Rich The Kid. I prefer this sound over his EDM sound but still didn't convince me to check out his catalog. However, I stumbled upon this new Young Thug collaboration, and I was pretty surprised with how good it was.

A few days ago, Young Thug and Carnage released a collaboration EP called Young Martha. "Liger" was released from this EP, and on the song, Carnage brings out a different side to himself. The song keeps the groove with booming bass that's not overwhelming with a nice touch of church organ and string section to keep the song sophisticated. Young Thug's chorus really shows how he's a "rare breed" by referencing a liger (a tiger/lion mix). "Everybody got tigers, so I wanna go get a liger," he raps, priding himself on being different from everybody else.

Young Thug's verse starts off relaxed and moves onto a high pitch where he keeps the song melodic and interesting. By the second verse, Thugger keeps the flow diverse by emphasizing every few syllables. Young Thug's confidence shows he's original and he wants to continuously express himself and push the envelope. Also, this track proves how Carnage is more than just a producer who creates hard-hitting beats. His relaxed production caters to Young Thug, and this ends up becoming a great match.

A collaboration between these two I wasn't looking forward to, but now I'm curious about what they're going to do next.
