Soduh & The Experience - The Get Down

Washington, DC's own The Experience puts his effortless sound and irresistible energy on full display in his soul-infused and unforgettably bouncy single "The Get Down." Featuring a slick verse from the always smooth Soduh, this track blends elements of hip-hop, funk, and jazz together into one vibrant explosion of sound. 

The music video for "The Get Down" pays homage to the vintage vibes of the hit Netflix series of the same name while amplifying the electricity that exists within a house party and exploring what it truly means to have a good time. The cleanly and artistically filmed video was done in one shot and hones in on the exhilarating essence of the West Coast while shedding light onto the various ways people like to let loose. With smoky air, excellent hair, and some throwback flair, this music video makes it clear that a party with The Experience is one experience you won't soon forget.

Hailing from Washington, DC, and proudly repping the entire DMV, this rapper-singer-songwriter's party-startin' sound fuses elements of funk with heavy-hitting hip-hop and smooth R&B. Music found him early, from the age of two he was playing drums and congas, and he soon found himself tagging along to his father's gigs with seminal D.C. go-go bands Heaven Sent and Arye Rayde. Growing up he would also accompany his grandmother to church every Sunday where he eventually began to sing in the choir, and the intricate drum patterns and soaring choruses of the gospel left a lasting impression on both him and his music.

Fast-forward to 2019 and The Experience is readying the release of his debut EP, "All For You?" The album is bursting with rich and ornate rhythm akin to the work of D'Angelo or Anderson .Paak, and features melodic flows that sit somewhere between those of Drake and Andre 3000. A highlight of the project is its groovin' lead single, "The Get Down," which has an equally far-out music video to match. Following the lead of DMV contemporaries like GoldLink, Innanet James and Rico Nasty, The Experience is making his own way while staying true to the sounds of the city that made him.
