Initially, the song’s chorus was different, but a suggestion from his wife sparked a creative shift. “As soon as she heard the first few bars of my second verse, she stopped me and said that should be the hook,” he explains. From there, the song flowed smoothly, bringing his vision to life.
'Nasty Man' represents a unique fusion of rap and southern soul, a combination that BOlo hopes will challenge listeners’ perceptions and open their minds to a new sound. He knows he’s entering uncharted territory but remains optimistic. "I wasn't sure how I was going to be received by mixing rap with southern soul, but I'm hoping to open people's minds and ears to something different but still soulful," he says.
