RJD2 Collaborator And Soul Vocalist Jordan Brown Releases Debut Solo Single 'Goodbye'
Best known for his featured vocals on RJD2's widely successful single "Peace Of What" (from his album Dame Fortune), as well as RJD2's collaboration album with rapper STS, Philly soul vocalist Jordan Brown steps to the forefront with his debut solo single "Goodbye."
Produced by Kayin, the song expresses the difficulties of healing from past relationships, while showcasing Brown's keen ability to seamlessly mix traditional R&B sounds with jazz and neo-soul instrumentals.
"Goodbye" is from Jordan's forthcoming debut solo project, Where We Were. Entirely produced by Brown's fellow Philadelphian Kayin, the EP is equally influenced by soul, jazz, hip-hop and trap music, and expands upon the complexities of dealing with love and romantic relationships.
In 2015, Jordan Brown was the featured vocalist throughout RJD2 and STS’ self-titled collaboration album. Project standout "Doin it Right" was featured in a trailer for the Neighbors 2 film, as well as the soundtrack for the Hollywood film Baywatch (starring Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson), while "Cruisin" (track 7) was featured in the Entourage movie. Following the success of these collaborations, RJD2 tapped Brown for his single "Peace of What." It then became clear that Brown is very comfortable working with live instrumentals as well as traditional sampling, so RJD2 recruited Brown for his live shows around the world. Now, Brown is set to release his debut solo project Where We Were in fall 2017.
