Nicki Minaj Breaks The Internet With PAPER Mag Cover
PAPER Magazine enjoyed a self-fulfilled prophesy with their slogan "Break the Internet" and Nicki Minaj's latest cover shoot, because that's exactly what happened.
A play on Nicki's stage name, the cover is titled "Minaj à Trois" and seemingly sees Nicki in three of her alter agos (Roman, Onika, and Barbie). Much like the photos done by Atlanta photographer Derek Blanks', Minaj interacts with her "selves" in the suggestive cover shoot shot by Ellen von Unwerth.
"I have always loved all of the looks that Nicki has done (and she has done them all)," PAPER creative director Drew Elliott explains. "Her style (typically anchored by her off-the-charts hair choices) matches her musical talent perfectly. Break the Internet is all about the big idea, the word, the image. It came to me one day that 'Minaj à trois' had never been done. HOW?"
