Keith Eatmon Drops New Single 'People Gotta Move'

Keith Eatmon, known on stage by his own name, has been a dynamic presence in the Atlanta music scene for over two decades. Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, and now calling Atlanta, GA, his home, Eatmon has spent years honing his craft as one of the city's top R&B singers in popular cover bands. With a voice that channels the soul of legends like Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross, and Bobby Caldwell, Eatmon’s journey into solo artistry has brought a fresh, electrifying energy to the smooth jazz and R&B genres.
Keith's musical journey began in Buffalo, where his passion for music was ignited by the countless hours he spent exploring the depths of his favorite albums. Though initially too shy to share his vocal talents, a fateful night at a local bar changed everything when the audience's enthusiastic applause gave him the confidence to pursue his dreams. From sitting in with local bands to becoming a lead singer and touring internationally, Eatmon's experiences shaped his artistic vision and ultimately led him to Atlanta, where he has become a beloved figure in the local music community.
In 2022, Keith Eatmon made a significant leap in his career with the release of his debut single, "My Love Is On Fire." The track, an infectious re-imagining of a lesser-known Stevie Wonder song from the 2006 album A Time For Love, quickly gained traction, setting the stage for Eatmon’s breakthrough in the contemporary instrumental genre. The song's success was evident as it garnered airplay on notable stations like WSBZ Seabreeze 106.3 FM in Destin, FL, Jazz 91.9 WLCK in Atlanta, and on DJ Rich Edwards' Smooth Grooves show on 40 Solar Radio. Edwards even chose it as his Song of the Year, naming Eatmon as the year's Top Male Vocalist.
Building on this momentum, Eatmon has returned with his latest single, "People Gotta Move," a high-energy reimagining of Gino Vannelli's early disco classic. The original, a Top 40 hit in the 1970s, has been given new life by Eatmon's powerful vocals, funkier grooves, and contemporary instrumentation. The track is a collaboration with renowned producer and keyboardist Trammell Starks, known for his work with legends like Peabo Bryson, Roberta Flack, and Patti Labelle, as well as his contributions to smooth jazz hits by saxophonist Michael J. Thomas.
"People Gotta Move" also features the talents of saxophonist Sam Skelton, whose explosive solo adds a fiery edge to the track, and drummer Louis Newsom, whose powerful beats drive the song's energy. Skelton, who previously played on "My Love Is On Fire," has an impressive resume that includes collaborations with Elton John, Matchbox 20, and The Gap Band. Newsom, too, brings a wealth of experience, having performed with Patti Labelle, Ledisi, and Gladys Knight, among others.
Reflecting on the creation of "People Gotta Move," Keith Eatmon says, "Gino's version was so ingrained in my mind that it took a minute to realize just how incredible Trammell's foundational tracks for the song were. I listened a few times to the bass grooves and slowly got hooked on the amazing urban jazz vibe he created. Then when Sam came in with the horns, that solidified everything for me. I could see myself performing this live. It’s the perfect next chapter in the development of my sound as an artist."
For Keith Eatmon, recording songs like "My Love Is On Fire" and "People Gotta Move" has been a dream come true. These tracks allow him to walk in the footsteps of his musical idols while paving the way for a promising and impactful solo career. As he continues to evolve as an artist, Eatmon’s blend of R&B, smooth jazz, and soulful pop is sure to resonate with audiences far and wide, solidifying his place as a rising star in the music industry.
