Hailing from the Wild and Wonderful West Virginia, Christina Cunningham is making waves in the world of jazz and adult contemporary music. Although she has relocated a few times throughout her life, she ultimately decided to return to her home state, embracing its beauty and inspiration. Christina’s musical journey has been deeply influenced by the timeless sounds of jazz. Growing up, she was surrounded by the smooth and soulful melodies of Anita Baker, a staple in her household. The 80s and 90s introduced her to the legendary Natalie Cole and, most notably, Nat King Cole’s "Unforgettable." A significant influence also came from her relative, actor Lou Myers, who shared film and video footage of jazz icon Nancy Wilson, sparking a lifelong admiration for the artist.

Her latest single, "I Wish You Love," is a heartfelt tribute to the classics. Originally recorded in France in the 1940s, the song has seen legendary renditions by Sam Cooke, Natalie Cole, and Nancy Wilson. Christina’s decision to bring her own interpretation to the piece was a natural one, blending its original charm with contemporary smooth jazz elements and live instrumentation. The creative process behind "I Wish You Love" was a collaborative effort with a team of exceptionally talented musicians. Producer Curt Keyz brought the vision to life on the keyboard, while John Dillard provided the smooth bassline, and Calvin Napper added depth with his drumming. To complete the piece, Christina reached out to Tony Exum Jr., whose saxophone contributions added a soothing, emotive layer to the track.

With "I Wish You Love" Christina hopes that the song resonates with listeners, bringing them a sense of peace as they navigate their own journeys of love and release. Most recently, Christina showcased her talents at Middle C Jazz in Charlotte, North Carolina. Under the musical direction of John "JD" Dillard, she took part in a tribute to the incomparable India Arie. Collaborating once again with Curt Keyz, the performance was a magical experience, further cementing her place in the jazz and adult contemporary music scene. Christina Cunningham continues to carve out her own path, honoring the legends before her while making a mark with her unique sound.
