Whether living in Los Angeles or practicing yoga on the beaches of her native island in the Bahamas, singer/songwriter, Tebby has her heart set on impacting the world. The songwriter is the John Legend episode winner of NBC’s newest songwriting competition series, Songland, executive produced by Eurythmics co-founder Dave Stewart, Audrey Morrissey (“The Voice”), Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, and director Ivan Dudynsky.

To kick off the series, EGOT winner John Legend, was joined by a panel of producers-mentors, Ryan Tedder (lead singer of OneRepublic and four-time Grammy Award winner), Ester Dean (Grammy-nominated songwriter and producer of Rihanna, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj), and Shane McAnally (Grammy-winning songwriter with 40 #1 country records) – to listen to four original songs and provide on the spot feedback in regards to lyrics, arrangements, beats, melody and story. Legend then narrowed the field to three songwriters, who went into the studio with one of the producer-mentors to perfect their songs for Legend. In the end, Legend chose Tebby’s “We Need Love,” as the winner and released the song for a global audience.

While Songland fans first met Tebby as a songwriter and winner of the John Legend episode, she’s been writing music and performing since she was young, “I started writing poetry when I was little and when I picked up the guitar at the age of 12,” she shares.“Most of my songs back then started out as poems that I set to melody and when I learned to play guitar, music became my safe place.” While she cites artists like Etta James, Tracey Chapman, Annie Lennox and Maroon 5 as her musical influences, Tebby has created a blend of different genres that have seamlessly come together to become her own authentic sound.

In fact it was her songwriting that first connected her with Grammy Award winning producers Cool & Dre (Lil Wayne, DJ Khaled, Fat Joe) who she worked with on her latest release. The first single Feel Alright, produced by Cool & Dre with additional production by Logan Dakota and Dim Crux, is a song that uplifts the spirit. “Feel Alright is about finding the good in all things. It's a reminder to believe that life is always conspiring in your favor,” explains Tebby, who penned the song during a contemplative moment. “I remember looking out the window feeling mixed emotions about where my life was going and then I had an epiphany to let go and trust the process. Feel Alright is a reminder to stay present, grounded, and trust that everything will work out in the end.” The second single on the album, “Medicine,” produced by C Ray features R&B/Pop artist, Jeremih.

A sought-after artist in the Caribbean, Tebby has performed internationally, showcasing at prominent events including the annual NCAA Tournament Battle For Atlantis, Miss Universe Pageant, Bahamian Icon Awards, and most recently hosted the Official Draw for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Bahamas (2017) which was broadcast live to over 200 countries worldwide. She also opened for Grammy Award winning singer Joss Stone and has performed at Miami's annual Irie Weekend, Art Basel, and the legendary B.B. Kings in New York City.

“Making the decision to go after what you want and live an unconventional life can be a scary thing so I try to celebrate every step. It feels amazing to be on NBC’s “Songland” with other talented artists and songwriters and then to write a song that John Legend records is a dream come true! From the first time I performed internationally or the first time my music video was played on television, these were all moments where I kind of paused, smiled and thought, this is good! This win on “Songland” has given me the boost of energy to keep going as a songwriter and also as an artist!”
