The Weeknd Returns With Two New Single "Heartless" and "Blinding Lights"
If you've been wondering about the whereabouts of The Weeknd, wonder no more, because he was working on new music, and he's dropped some of his hrad work in the form of two tracks called “Heartless” and "Blinding Lights."
Co-produced by Metro Boomin and Illangelo, “Heartless” finds The Weeknd navigating through his feelings after a breakup (maybe from ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez?).
“All this money and this pain got me heartless / Low life for life ’cause I’m heartless / Said I’m heartless / Tryna be a better man, but I’m heartless,” he sings on the chorus.
As for "Blinding Lights," it seems to further the storyline of the ups and downs of The Weeknd's real life love life, more specifically how fast he got over playing the field after a break up (from Selena?) because of the reemergence of his latest on-off girlfriend Bella Hadid.
The Weeknd hinted at the end of "Heartless" that Hadid had just come back: "I lost my heart and my mind / I try to always do right / I thought I lost you this time / You just came back in my life / You never gave up on me (Why don't you?) / I'll never know what you see (Why won't you?) / I don't do well when alone (Oh yeah) / You hear it clear in my tone."
"Blinding Lights" builds on that and his feelings for the woman who's consistently been there for him.

Earlier this year, The Weeknd teamed up with SZA and Travis Scott for “Power is Power” from the final season of HBO’s Game of Thrones soundtrack, For the Throne. He also joined forces with producer Gesaffelstein for “Lost in the Fire.”
As for his solo material, “Heartless” comes more than a year after his My Dear Melancholy EP and three years since his full-length album, Starboy.
