Shelia Moore-Piper is a powerful voice in music who proudly calls Houston home. She is grateful to be part of the H-town community and often shares her appreciation for the city and for God, who she credits for guiding her journey. She believes it’s important to never stagnate. Her music is rooted in what she calls Christian Soul, a genre her husband gave a name to years ago that has truly become her own. While some have called her the “Princess of Neo Gospel Soul,” Christian Soul is the sound and message she has fully stepped into and embraced.

Her musical influences are wide, deep, and soulful. From legends like Earth, Wind & Fire, Nat King Cole, Natalie Cole, James Brown, and Michael Jackson, to gospel and soul powerhouses such as CeCe Winans, Mary Mary, Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, Fred Hammond, Tye Tribbett, Hezekiah Walker, Donald Lawrence and the Tri-City Singers, The Winans, and Mary J. Blige, her inspirations cross generations and genres. She also draws inspiration from Whitney Houston, Dolly Parton, Usher, Maze, Aaron Neville, Kathleen Battle, and many others. One of her greatest influences is her husband, Glenn “GP” Piper, and she proudly adds herself to the list, believing in loving and honoring who God created her to be.

Her newest single, “Show Love,” is a special release that holds deep meaning. The song was written years ago and rediscovered while going through old demo recordings. When her husband heard it, he immediately recognized its potential and encouraged her to turn it into a single. Together, they gave the song a complete facelift, updating the lyrics and sound to fit the present moment. The track features Nuthin But Soul horns, with Horace Alexander-Young, Myron “Big Jack” Jackson, and Devionne Jones bringing rich flavor to the music. As a self-described “horns girl,” Shelia was excited to have them back on the record. “Show Love” also carries emotional weight, as it was the last song Myron “Big Jack” Jackson played on before his passing. The single was produced by Shelia and her husband, with standout guitar work from Jeremiah McConnico.

The main challenge in creating “Show Love” was making sure every element came together smoothly, like gumbo, with vocals and instruments blending just right. Shelia is thankful that everything aligned and believes the song is needed right now in this season and space. With this single, her hope is to remind people of the importance of showing love in everyday life. She acknowledges that loving others can be challenging, but believes that with the Lord’s help, even the impossible can be done. Her prayer is that listeners catch the vision, connect with the message, and truly rock with it.

Shelia Moore-Piper has been blessed to perform on many stages, but one of her most memorable experiences was performing at the Stellar Awards after-party in Las Vegas, where the energy was high and the venue was packed with people fresh from the awards show. Since then, she has stayed busy recording, producing other artists alongside her husband through their independent label, BdmUgroove Music. She has also released visuals and content connected to The Love / Soul Session Vol. 1 album, released in 2022, and remains active on social media. For Shelia, continuing to work, grow, and reinvent herself is essential. She believes it’s important to never stagnate, to keep moving forward, and to always be open to reaching new audiences through music, love, and faith.
