OC Soul Releases new single The Get Down
OC SOUL, an artist whose sound fuses R&B, Funk, and Southern Soul, was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and raised in Los Angeles and Compton. Now based in Atlanta, Georgia, his musical journey is deeply rooted in family and faith. Growing up in a home where his father was both a minister and a singer in the church. His brother’s passion for performing and forming a group further inspired him to pick up instruments like the keyboard and bass guitar.
His latest single, The Get Down, produced by Derrick McElveen, captures the essence of groove and good times. The creative process began one morning when inspiration struck unexpectedly. OC SOUL recalls waking up with a beat in his head and a hook that wouldn’t let go. From there, he reshaped his vocals and let the lyrics flow naturally, allowing the music to guide him. While the collaboration came with its challenges—each artist recording their parts separately—Derrick McElveen and Jason Bell worked their magic to blend everything seamlessly, resulting in a track that feels alive with rhythm and soul.
