Nikki Jean Delivers New "Beautiful Prison" Project, Shares Message of Empowerment with "Driver" Video

Singer-songwriter Nikki Jean delivers her Rhymesayers Entertainment debut project, Beautiful Prison, along with another music video. The St. Paul, MN native first earned notable acclaim for her contributions to Lupe Fiasco’s Grammy-nominated album, The Cool, and touring with Kanye West. Nikki Jean’s new, seven-track effort includes the singles “Pink Lemonade,” “Mr Clean” (feat. Lupe Fiasco), and “People & Planes.” With her Rhymesayers debut, Nikki Jean firmly establishes herself as both an innovative songwriter and a tenacious advocate for empowerment. 

Nikki Jean continues to share her message of empowerment through more than just her music, though. In the self-directed music video for the standout track, “Driver,” Nikki Jean pays a visit to her alma mater, Howard University, and surrounds herself with women whose creativity and contributions to society inspire her immensely. In planning for the video, what began as an attempt to celebrate strength and unity quickly evolved into a desire to amplify her fellow artists' stories, ultimately moving Nikki to create a short film about perseverance for which the video now serves as just a taste. As a result, Nikki Jean is scheduled to speak this evening at IDEA-GEN, a global UN summit focused on empowering women and girls, where her forthcoming documentary Get Free will premiere in conjunction with her speech.
