MTV Expands 'TRL' Reboot

After rumors that MTV canceled MTV's reboot of the video countdown show TRL, MTV president Chris McCarthy told Billboard that TRL hasn't been canceled.

Quite to opposite; the reboot will be expanded into more TV slots including early morning and late night versions. Titled "Total Request Late," the late night version has been running two nights a week at 11 p.m. since February and will go to four nights this summer.

Tentatively titled "Total Request A.M.," the morning edition will be a one-hour music block that, according to McCarthy, is compared to "the Today Show but through a music filter."

The afternoon edition of TRL will return on April 9th.
