The Scenes Sound Team has developed the world’s first 3D audio recording earphone, the 3D Lifelike earphone, and are now crowdfunding the innovative earphones on Indiegogo.

You could use Lifelike to listening to music. But what the Lifelike earphones are really about is recording binaural, or three-dimensional, audio — the kind of thing that typically required big, weird, ear-shaped rigs.

You may think Sennheiser released the first 3D audio recording earphone, but in fact, Scenes Lifelike got the MFI certification in Dec 2016, so this is the world's first. Scenes has developed this tech independently, while Sennheiser is working with a third party company to finish the 3D audio tech.

The portable easy-to-use earphones plug into your iPhone, and you can record anything with truly 3D audio, which has accurate direction, distance, and movement information.

How Does It Capture Sound So Accurately?

Scenes Lifelike 3D headset is the world’s first iPhone-based 3D recording earphone, which just uses an iPhone which lets you record 3D audio. It's a cutting-edge concept, adopting “Dummy Head Recording” theory, but uses your real head, instead of a dummy head to record. Lifelike has two microphones separately in your ears: the “Shark Gill” earbuds will help in air tightness and combines with your real head to relive the best human acoustic recording environment.

After recording, the Lifelike Digital Box will convert the analog signal to digital. Scenes' proprietary algorithm will complete the sound-filed mix, EQ compensation, and smart noise reduction. When you playback, it’s very easy for you to pinpoint direction and distance of the sound in the video; even you share it, anyone uses any headphones will have the same feeling.

Game Changer

It’s a big stride in audio capture innovation, but few people know. With 3D sound, the video will be more interesting. Imagine you’re sitting in the Dolby Atmos Theatre; the surround sound is great, but not accurate. The audience can feel surrounding experience, but not as an insider. In real 3D audio, you’ll fall like Alice, encompassed by falling wind noise. A stranger suddenly appears right front of you, a monster whispers at your left, and frightened, you to run immediately.
