Jeff Logan Heats Up the Summer with Smooth R&B Single “Fire and Ice”

Jeff Logan, is a multi-genre music artist born in Washington, DC and raised in Prince George’s County, Maryland. He draws inspiration from the cultural blend of the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) region. With a style he’s dubbed “Cool Wave,” Logan blends gospel, R&B, and smooth jazz while mixing in everything from Afro-Caribbean to classical, pop, and even movie soundtracks. His approach to music reflects a deep appreciation for a wide range of influences, including legends like Stevie Wonder, Miles Davis, Angela Bofill, Pat Metheny, Quincy Jones, Phyllis Hyman, and countless others who have shaped his sonic palette.
His latest project, OBSIDIAN, set to release in 2026, is both a musical and symbolic journey. Drawing from the qualities of the volcanic rock it’s named after, the album reflects themes of struggle and resilience. The first single from the album, titled “Fire and Ice,” is scheduled for release in summer 2025. It captures a blend of hot rhythms and cool lyrical metaphors, reminiscent of a Justin Timberlake-style groove. More than just a catchy R&B track, the song celebrates the beauty of expressing genuine feelings for someone, even when society tells us to play it cool.
The creation of “Fire and Ice” was a deeply intuitive process for Logan. Inspired by the phrase that also serves as the name of his record label, the song came together organically, guided by what he describes as “divine creativity.” He first sketches out the musical framework—melody, structure, instrumentation—before refining the details across multiple iterations. The biggest challenge, he shares, is capturing all the musical ideas as they come to him, often in fast and overwhelming waves.
With this single and the broader OBSIDIAN project, Jeff Logan hopes listeners will be moved and feel a deeper connection to the stories woven throughout each track.
