The possibility of a Dwayne Johnson presidency gained popularity in July when Run the Rock 2020 campaign committee was officially registered with the Federal Election Commission. Months later, the wrestler-turned-actor is “seriously considering” running, and experts believe he has a real chance.

When asked about his political aspirations, Johnson has made a number of suggestive remarks, but none so telling as when he recently told Ellen DeGeneres that he is “seriously considering” running for office. Johnson has said that he is “intrigued” by the idea of running but the election is a “long ways away.”

Johnson’s Jumanji co-star, Kevin Hart, has also spoken in favor of Johnson’s candidacy, saying, “The one thing about him is he’s very serious when it comes to spreading that love, that laughter, and just upselling of life on a positive level. And if he were to put himself in that position, he would get my support wholeheartedly.”

Despite the sensationalism that surrounds the possibility of a Dwayne Johnson presidency, many political insiders believe he has a real chance. If Johnson, who professes to be independent, ran on a third-party ticket, he would have the opportunity to capitalize on the country’s growing disillusion with the two major parties. With independent voters now consuming the majority of the electorate, having doubled in number in the last half-century, it is possible America could see the victory of a third-party candidate.
