Devon Howard is an R&B and soul artist whose music reflects a lifetime of influences, personal experiences, and a deep respect for timeless sounds. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Howard spent much of his early life on the city's west side before graduating from the Baltimore School for the Arts. He credits his education there with helping him develop the discipline and focus that would become essential throughout his music career. Although he has considered relocating over the years, Maryland has always remained home, and he currently resides in Baltimore County. Howard's stage name carries personal meaning and family history. He adopted the surname Howard as a tribute to his father's biological family lineage, creating a deeper connection between his personal identity and artistic journey.

Growing up in a household filled with a wide variety of music, Howard was exposed to R&B, pop, hip hop, gospel, country, disco, and classic oldies. These early experiences helped shape his musical style, though he found his natural home in R&B and soul music, both as a singer and songwriter. His sound reflects not only traditional soul influences but also modern rhythms and global inspirations. Among Howard's biggest musical influences are Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, El DeBarge, Babyface, and New Edition. He also draws inspiration from the soul music of the 1970s and 1980s, along with classic 1990s R&B artists such as Jodeci, Blackstreet, and Boyz II Men. Beyond traditional R&B, Howard incorporates elements of afrobeats, soulful house, and bossa nova into his creative approach.

His latest release, "I Couldn't Love You More," is a heartfelt remake of the classic song by Sade. The track serves as the newest single from his upcoming project, which is expected to be released next spring. While Howard hints that this may be his final full length album, he plans to continue creating music through EPs and standalone singles. The inspiration to record "I Couldn't Love You More" came unexpectedly while Howard was listening to music on Pandora. After hearing the song repeatedly, he developed a strong emotional connection to it and decided to explore the possibility of creating his own interpretation. Working closely with one of his producers in Atlanta, Howard aimed to create a smooth and passionate male version that honored the original while showcasing his own artistic voice.

One of the biggest challenges during the recording process was balancing respect for such a beloved classic with the desire to make the song feel personal and authentic. Howard recorded many of his vocals late at night, carefully working through each performance until he felt the emotional connection was fully captured. When the final mix and master were complete, he believed they had created something truly meaningful. For Howard, the emotional heart of the song was always the priority. He recognizes the timeless ability of Sade's music to place listeners into an emotional space and wanted to preserve that feeling while finding his own interpretation of the lyrics. By focusing on what the song personally meant to him, Howard was able to deliver a performance rooted in sincerity and emotion.
