In its home city of Seattle, Amazon has launched a convenience that lacks even a single cashier.

At Amazon Go, customers scan their smartphones upon entering the store. They are then tracked by a high number of cameras and sensors. When clients take items off the shelves, they are added to a virtual shopping cart. Then, after customers leave, the groceries are charged to the clients' Amazon accounts.

Merchants and consumers alike believe that this could be the future of shopping. In a study conducted in the U.S., France, and Germany, 40 percent of consumers indicate that they would feel comfortable using a virtual shopping system within the next three years.
