Amakiya Shares New Video For 'Archetype'
Austin, TX: Amakiya shares a new video today for 'Archetype,' the title track from her debut album, out today on Spaceflight Records. The release is a solo debut for Amakiya (aka Chantell Moody) who previously released music with bands The Digital Wild and Fort Never. To celebrate the release of Archetype Amakiya will perform at Waterloo Records in Austin on October 20.
The single was Produced by Croom, in collaboration with Adriana Acuña. Amakiya talks about the track: “While writing the song Archetype, I was channeling my own inner superhero, the one I’ve needed my entire life. I’m no longer waiting for someone to save me, I made the choice to save myself. That meant integrating my shadow instead of running from it, letting go of shame, and learning that it’s okay to embody righteous rage and question the status quo.
I’ve also learned to appreciate how nature, the moon, and the weather move through me, the same way they move through the earth. My emotions move in cycles too, and I’ve learned how to honor that. That’s its own kind of goddess energy. This song is a call to action for women and femmes everywhere: stand fully in your power, take up space, lead boldly, and help midwife a new way of living, one where we rise and we are free. And it’s a call to everyone else: protect us, respect us, vote for our rights, and stand up for us.”
Talking about the album as a whole Amakiya says: “Each song became its own archetype, a different part of myself I've had to face. Together, these songs take you on a journey: from the spiritual realm, down to earth and all the complexities of being human, into the depths of the psyche, and back out into wholeness and full self-expression."
