Actress Stacey Dash Running for Congress

Stacey Dash, best known for her role in the cult-classic Clueless, has announced that she is officially seeking the congressional seat for California’s 44th district.

Dash is a well-known Republican and frequent FOX news contributor who has been an outspoken supporter of President Trump. “I want to change the human condition, specifically in the district in which I’m running. They need to be given the opportunity to achieve their God-given right, which is the American dream,” Dash said.

In recent years, Dash has expressed personal feelings of rejection from Hollywood due to her political ideologies. “You’re tolerated only if you fit their liberal profile. I’ve been blacklisted. I don’t even get to auditions,” she said.

The actress has also criticized what she views as identity politics, saying, “Because I’m black I’m supposed to be a Democrat, which is absurd. They’re supposed to be the party of tolerance. I don’t see any tolerance.”

The 44th District is notoriously liberal, and Dash has an uphill battle if she hopes to defeat Democratic nominee, Representative Nanette Barragán. Nonetheless, according to political insiders, given Dash’s popularity and star power, it is possible the 44th could make a surprising flip and go red in November.
